The Milton-Freewater School District uses the Frontline system (formerly known as AESOP) to fill substitute positions. This system enables substitutes to login using the website or app, edit personal information, enter non-work days, and choose job openings.

2025-2026 payroll information
Substitutes are paid on the above pay dates for all hours worked in the previous month
**For example - hours subbed in December will be paid on the January 20th pay date Pay dates for the 2025-2026 school year are:
September 19, October 20, November 20, December 19, January 20, February 20, March 20, April 20, May 20, June 19 (hrs for May and June paid on this pay date)

Substitute Information

Licensed Substitutes (Teachers) (click for more info)

Substitutes play a critical role in the education of our students. The Milton-Freewater School District is always looking for highly skilled substitutes to help provide high-quality education to our students.

Licensed teachers or those with a bachelor’s degree interested in becoming substitute teacher in the Milton-Freewater School District must apply electronically through the district web page. To review current job openings on the District website, click here.

TSPC (Oregon Teachers Standards and Practices Commissions) is the entity that must approve your substitute teaching license. For more information, click here.

PDU Rule RESCINDED

In the Spring of 2015, school districts and educational service districts brought information to the TSPC Commission pointing to a severe substitute teacher shortage in most areas of Oregon. In response to the potential crisis, the Commission decided to rescind the PDU requirement for substitutes, with the provision to revisit the issue in Spring of 2017. Effective July 1, 2015, substitutes are no longer required to submit verification of PDUs earned to renew.

2025-2026 Pay Rate
The pay rate for substitute teachers is $221.02 per day and $110.51 for a half day with a half-day minimum. After ten consecutive days of subbing for the same teacher, the pay rate increases to $248.08 per day.

Applicants who are interested in becoming a classified substitute (e.g. in the classroom assisting the teacher, in an office setting, or as part of our building and grounds department) must complete the online application. Click here to be taken to the district open jobs page.

Sub Bus Driver: $21.62 hourly
Sub Clerical/Paraprofessional: $16.44 hourly
Sub Cook 1: $15.76 hourly
Sub Custodian: $17.36 hourly
